About Faye Gustafson

Faye Gustafson has the western life in her soul. Raised on a ranch where for many years all the work was done with horses, she experienced first hand the sweat, sounds, sites and smells of ranching. This knowledge and experience gives Faye the solid background needed to bring out the true essence and spirit of the west in her art work.

The people of the west and horses are the backbone of Gustafson's work and is a reflection of her life long passion for the western way of life. "I am always on the lookout for a person that is an original and has character for one of my oils or drawings" says Faye "and I have certainly found there is no shortage of subjects."

Faye Gustafson - Western Artist

Gustafson’s art career began early in life. When she could Faye always had a pencil in her hand and would draw horses. At times when art materials were scarce she would simply draw horses in the dust with a stick. Faye’s first sale was a drawing for $15 when she was 16 and immediately turned that into more art supplies. Since then she has received professional guidance from Edward Fraughton, Veryl Goodnight, Martin Grelle, Bruce Greene and Robert Bateman.

Over the years Faye Gustafson has exhibited in the following major venues;

  • The Secretary of State Buildings in California,
  • The Las Vegas Art Museum
  • The Cowgirl Hall of Fame
  • The Calgary Stampede and Exhibition

Faye Gustafson's work consists of oils, drawings and bronzes of cowboys, cowgirls, and the western way of life. Faye is a member of Oil Painters of America and American Women Artist.
